Our Story

It's just in our blood.

Deep South Fishing Charters was built on generations of Cape fishing heritage — and a simple wish: that you get to see what we see every day.

Meet Captain Anees

Seventeen years reading this water

Captain Anees grew up in a fishing family — the kind where the tides set the dinner-table conversation. His father is still a fisherman at 83, and that same salt runs through everything Deep South does.

After 17 years working the waters of the Cape Peninsula, he knows where the yellowtail push bait in summer, when the snoek arrive in winter, and exactly how far past Cape Point the tuna are feeding.

What gets him out of bed before dawn isn't the fish — it's the moment a guest hooks their first one. Seeing people get hooked on this ocean, and sharing what he sees every single day: that's the whole point.

What We Stand For

The Deep South way

Born of the sea

Fishing isn't our job — it's our family history. Captain Anees's father still fishes at 83, and that heritage comes aboard on every trip.

Safety without compromise

Conditions are checked before every launch, life vests are aboard for every guest — kids included — and a qualified first mate is on every trip.

Every angler matters

First cast or thousandth, eight years old or eighty — the crew coaches, rigs, unhooks and celebrates alongside you.

More than fishing

Dolphins on the bow, whales at sunset, albatross overhead — and sometimes even a navy submarine. False Bay always puts on a show.

The Ocean Safari

False Bay never fishes quietly

Even before the first bite, the bay delivers: common dolphins surfing the bow wave, southern right whales breaching at sunset, albatross wheeling overhead and seals tailing the lines. On a quiet day you might even watch a navy submarine slide past Simon's Town. Bring the camera — you'll use it.

The tide waits for no one
